Happy Mother’s Day!

I wanted to do something different this Mother’s Day and create a little blog about what Mother’s Day means to me. The celebration of our parents is something very dear to me and every year, I aim to make my Mum and Dad feel fabulous on Mother’s and Father’s Days alike, but they are the type of people who are just happy with a little visit. Every year I’m reminded I can never thank them enough for the support and belief they always had for me, and they remind me that it was just their job (why so humble?!).

Once a year, we spend a little bit of time together, creating a schedule around everyone’s busy life. Everyone is working, everyone is busy, everyone has someone they need to see. Once upon a time we were the reason our Mums were too busy, and we were and still are our Mums everything.

This year, on Mother’s Day, if you have the opportunity, reach out to your Mum, Mother in Law, Step Mum, Mother figure, people who have lost their Mums, people who have not been able to become Mums through no choice of their own, Mumma’s whose little one has gained their wings or just spread a little love wherever you can because, let’s be real, we could all use a little more love.

Personally, Mother’s Day reflects the selflessness, resilience, sacrifice, strength and ultimately love that my Mumma demonstrated through adversity and helped shape me into the person I am today. She is my best friend, my cheerleader, helps support my delusions of grandeur, she remains selfless and gives her kids all she has and more. Maybe this is just what Mumma’s do….

But I for one am eternally grateful.
